Game Progression

This page explains how to progress through the different ages in CivIdleCli and the benefits of advancement.

Ages Overview

CivIdleCli features a progression system through different historical ages. Each age unlocks new buildings, technologies, and capabilities.

The current ages in the game include:

  1. Stone Age (Starting Age)
  2. Bronze Age
  3. Iron Age
  4. Medieval Age
  5. Renaissance Age
  6. Industrial Age
  7. Modern Age

Advancement Requirements

Advancing to a new age requires meeting certain criteria:

  1. Resource Thresholds: Accumulating specific amounts of various resources
  2. Building Requirements: Constructing certain buildings
  3. Technology Prerequisites: Researching specific technologies

Age-Specific Requirements

Bronze Age

To advance from Stone Age to Bronze Age:

  • Resources: Specific thresholds of food, wood, stone, and knowledge
  • Buildings: At least 2 huts, 1 farm, and 1 mine
  • Technology: Bronze Working research completed

Iron Age

To advance from Bronze Age to Iron Age:

  • Resources: Higher thresholds of all resources including gold
  • Buildings: Multiple advanced buildings including lumber mills and markets
  • Technology: Iron Working research completed

Later Ages

Each subsequent age has increasingly demanding requirements in terms of:

  • Resource accumulation
  • Building diversity and quantity
  • Research completion

Benefits of Advancement

Advancing to a new age provides several benefits:

  1. New Buildings: Unlocks new building types
  2. Improved Efficiency: Often increases base resource gathering rates
  3. New Technologies: Makes new research options available
  4. New Villager Types: May unlock specialized villager types
  5. Game Progression: Required to reach the end-game content

Checking Advancement Progress

You can check your progress toward the next age using the status command, which will show:

  1. Your current age
  2. Requirements for the next age
  3. Your progress toward meeting those requirements

Age Advancement Strategy

Stone Age Strategy

  1. Focus on food and wood gathering
  2. Build huts to increase population
  3. Recruit villagers for resource gathering
  4. Research Mining and Bronze Working
  5. Build a mine and gather stone

Bronze Age Strategy

  1. Expand resource gathering to include gold
  2. Build markets and more advanced structures
  3. Invest in knowledge and research
  4. Research Iron Working
  5. Prepare for the transition to the Iron Age

Later Age Strategies

As you progress through ages:

  1. Diversify your building portfolio
