IB thoughts - eseo-emc/icim-ci GitHub Wiki
Guided by examples of increasing complexity, we develop some thoughts on the IB model. That is, we apply verification by instantiation [1].
Functionally, an LM7805 voltage regulator provides a 5V DC output voltage. It turns out that, while injecting RF power on its input, the output DC voltage lowers. In a certain application, no more than -100mV offset is allowable. A PCB designer wants to try different passive filters in a BCI simulation. The ICIM-CI model needs to provide him with a margin (positive or negative): how much more current than the nominal 200mA will the circuit take before the voltage regulator fails?
The PDN allows to predict the input voltage at the regulator terminal, and comparison of this voltage with the IB gives the current margin. Graphically: ...
