The Porcelain is a feature of the Shroomhearth Datapack that provides a custom dimension where players can freely use Creative mode.

Accessing

Players may access The Porcelain at any time by using the Porcelain item.

When entering The Porcelain, a player's inventory is stored in an "anchor" at their position within the source dimension from which they entered. The player is then set to Creative Mode. Chunks that contain an anchor are force-loaded so that players can later return to their anchor.

Anchors appear as a Porcelain item standing on the ground with frothing End Rod particles emitting from its brim.

A Porcelain anchor as it appears in the Overworld

When exiting The Porcelain, players are teleported back to their anchor and the stored inventory is restored to them. The anchor is then removed and the player is set back to Survival mode.

If a player's anchor cannot be found, they will instead be teleported to their source dimension at a relative position.

Traits

Most items and blocks function the same way as they do in the Overworld, with a few exceptions:

  • Certain items are instantly removed from players' inventories
    • Ender Chest
    • Bottle of Enchanting
    • Ender Pearl
    • Any consumable item
  • Both Beds and Respawn Anchors explode when used in the Porcelain

Environment

The Porcelain appears as a flat, empty, shimmering white plane.

Biomes

The Porcelain is comprised of a single biome named Porcelain.

Advancements

Upon entering the Porcelain, players are granted the "The Porcelain" advancement under the Shroomhearth tab.

Issues

  • It is possible to use Creative Mode to cheese Advancements while in the Porcelain. Advancements are not checked or managed whatsoever between entering or exiting.
  • The fact that anchors in the Overworld force load chunks along with the amount of runnable commands per anchor can potentially damage performance when many players are in the Porcelain.
  • Logging out while inside The Porcelain is not advisable as desync between server restarts can have adverse impact when the player tries to exit and return to their anchor.

Trivia

  • Other names considered for The Porcelain include "The Veil" and "The Alabaster".
