Optional Randomizer Settings - entropiccode/Fixed-Order-Randomizer-Catch-Em-All GitHub Wiki
The Randomizer contains many settings to change the game being played, and not all of them involve randomization. Below, I will review settings that have no impact on any of the provided Rule Sets, so feel free to enable them as you see fit.
If you use the provided settings file for any given Rule Set, some of these settings may already be enabled.
Note that not all of these options will be available in every generation.
Starters, Statics & Trades
Static Pokemon
- "Fix Music" -- This ensures that if a static encounter has special music, that music will play regardless of the Pokemon the encounter has been randomized into. In Gen 4/5, if a Pokemon has special music assigned to it, that music will always play when battling that Pokemon, even in a wild encounter.
In-Game Trades
- "Randomize Nicknames" -- Cosmetic setting. Randomizes the nicknames of the Pokemon acquired from In-Game Trades. The Permadeath and Kaizo Rule Sets enable this setting.
- "Randomize OTs" -- Cosmetic setting. Randomizes the Original Trainer name shown in the Pokemon Summary screen of Pokemon acquired from In-Game Trades.
Foe Pokemon
- "Randomize Trainer Names" -- Cosmetic setting. Randomizes the individual names of all encountered trainers (only Gym Leaders and Elite 4 have names in Gen 1).
- "Randomize Trainer Class Names" -- Cosmetic setting. Randomizes the class names given to groups of trainers ("Youngster" could become "Misfit").
Misc. Tweaks
- "Fastest Text" -- This makes text appear with minimum delay, regardless of your chosen Text Speed. This is basically Instant Text, and is a very nice quality of life improvement for those who have played the game before.
- "Running Shoes Indoors" -- If a game features Running Shoes, this setting will allow you to run in any location.
- "Lower Case Pokemon Names" -- Cosmetic setting. Turns all Pokemon names into Camel Case. "VENUSAUR" becomes "Venusaur", for example.
- "Randomize Catching Tutorial" -- Cosmetic setting (mostly). Randomizes the Pokemon in the catching tutorial . In some games, this can shorten the catching tutorial as this adds the possibility of either Pokemon being knocked out, ending the catching tutorial early.
- "Run Without Running Shoes" -- In games that feature the Running Shoes, this allows you to run before being given Running Shoes.
- "Faster HP and EXP Bars" -- An option for Generation 4 games that increases the speed at which HP and EXP bars update. Mostly fixes the long wait time when dealing large amounts of damage to Pokemon with lots of HP.
