2. Learning in Kalruhse-Germany

2.1. Integration course

Integration courses are language courses that help you to become a part of German society. The integration course includes both a language course and a orientation course that gives you important historical, political and cultural background information about the country.

You should attend an integration course if you do not yet have a sufficient knowledge of the German language:

If you are new to Karlsruhe and come from a country outside the UE, you have the right to attend one integration course. If you have been living in German for a longer period of time or are an EU citizen, you can also be admitted to the courses if places are available. If you are German citizen, but do not have sufficient knowledge of the German language and want to integrate more effectively, you can also be admitted to the courses if place are available. Get advice from a Migrationsberatungsstelle (migration advisory cetre) — or from the Büro für Integration (Office for Integration) about which language course is siutable for you. 2.2. German course with childcare

Individuals who are ineligible for integration courses or are physically unable to attend such courses may participate in the courses under the Administrative Regulation (VwV) German.

Target group

  • Parents can take part in the “VwV Deutsch German course with childcare”.
  • Who do not have a residence permit and thus cannot attend an integration course; and who have small children but no childcare facilities and thus cannot attend an integration course. When Monday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings There are no classes during the vacations

The VwV courses are supported by funds from the state of Baden-Württemberg and the city of Karlsruhe.

The offer takes place in cooperation with the Arbeitskreis für Aus- und Weiterbildung Karlsruhe (AAW) and the Internationale Begegnungszentrum Karlsruhe e. V. (ibz) as well as with the kind support of the Jobcenter Karlsruhe.

2.3. Job-related German courses

It is possible to attend a job-related German course after an integration course. Job-related German courses often improve chances on the job market. They teach German skills up to language level C1.

Customers of the Job Center and the Employment Agency must contact their case worker. All others (including employees and trainees) can apply to the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF).

2.4. German courses and meeting offers

There are also learning German offers in Karlsruhe organized by independent associations or other institutions.

  • These courses are open to anyone who wants to learn German, including those who are not allowed to attend integration courses.
  • These courses are always available for free.
  • Participation is entirely voluntary.

Courses for all

Sprecht miteinander! at the Mühlburg Civic Center At the Mühlburg Civic Center (BZM), Weinbrennerstrasse 79 a, 76185 Karlsruhe, the open offer Sprecht miteinander! Karlsruhe e.V. takes place on Wednesdays and Fridays from 6:30 to 8 pm.

SprechPunkt at the International Meeting Center (ibz) In the International Meeting Center ibz, Kaiserallee 12 d, 76133 Karlsruhe, the offer SprechPunkt always takes place on Mondays, 6:30 to 8 p.m. (online) and Thursdays, 6:30 to 8 p.m.

German lessons by Freunde für Fremde e.V. at the International Meeting Center (ibz) The association Freunde für Fremde e.V. offers free German lessons in courses or as individual lessons for all levels. The offer is primarily aimed at asylum seekers and people without the right to an integration course.

Courses for refugees

German courses offered by the Mennonite Relief Society at the Human Rights Center On Mondays to Fridays, volunteers offer free German lessons for refugees on the premises of the Mennonitisches Hilfswerk. The teachers try to adapt the content as well as possible to the different levels of the learners. However, the first priority is not the linguistic progress, but a cordial contact with each other in a nice atmosphere.

German lessons/ learning box of the Flüchtlingshilfe Karlsruhe e.V. in the Human Rights Center The Flüchtlingshilfe Karlsruhe offers German lessons for refugees in the Lernbox, the language container in front of the Human Rights Center. The offer takes place Mondays to Fridays from 2 to 5 pm.

Initial orientation courses in regional studies and language, Freundeskreis Asyl e.V. The orientation courses are primarily aimed at refugees with unclear prospects. If places are also available, recognized refugees and permitted persons can also participate, provided that participation in an Integrations course is not (yet) possible.

Low-threshold women’s courses from Freundeskreis Asyl e.V. The Freundeskreis Asyl e.V. is a provider of low-threshold women’s courses. In addition to learning German, the focus is on topics relevant to everyday life and orientation in society. The children of the course participants are looked after during the courses.

Tandems

Tandem partner mediation of the Volkshochschule On the platform of the Adult Education Center you can register if you are looking for a tandem partner with whom you would like to speak German or another language.

2.5. German courses with certificate

Summer intensive courses for young people/individual promotion in integration courses. People who are not able to sign up for integration courses may attend courses under the Administrative Regulation (VwV) German. The state of Baden-Württemberg and the city of Karlsruhe fund the VwV courses.

  1. Intensive language courses/summer vacation courses for teenagers and young adults preparing to enter the workforce

The courses conclude with a certified examination at B1 or B2 target language level.
Summer intensive courses with a total of 150 teaching units are held during the summer vacations (approximately five to six weeks).

  1. The promotion of people who are disqualified for integration courses This help is intended for all immigrants who do not have or do not yet have access to integration courses and are not in imminent danger of deportation.
