The SunSpun Sands - endlessm/threadbare GitHub Wiki

A seemingly endless desert region of Threadbare, cast in eternal sunshine so relentless that shadows themselves are said to grow thin and tired by midday. Sand here runs gold-to-amber and holds heat like a held breath, and travellers swear the dunes shift not with the wind but with the telling and retelling of stories along the caravan routes.

Within the SunSpun Sands lie some of Threadbare's most storied gathering-places: the fabled Performance Playa, circus of all worlds; the Diwan Dunes, home to the stories of Arabic culture from the world of Earth; the SunBleached Bookshop, where every book left too long in the light rewrites its own ending; and the Ballad Barrens, a stretch so dry that only songs, never speech, are said to carry across it.

To the East, the Sands run down to the Glass Coast, where the sun spins the sand into glass, and beyond it lies the vast Odyssey Ocean. The harbour town of FareWell, the last settlement before the open ocean, stands on the Sands' eastern shore.

In the Threadbare Plot

The SunSpun Sands are the road to the Never Loom in Act Two of the Threadbare Plot. In Paper Trail, the StoryWeaver follows the Obscurists' trail of stolen pages east from HemsHollow across the dunes, past packs of Storyvores and buried Gobblers. At the Performance Playa, in The Show Must Go On, they save the great show in The Canopy of Curiosity, and Rook RagRavel gives them a map to The Lost Library, half-buried in the deep desert, where Null hid the Never Loom.
