An ancient and hallowed order of the Attuned, native to the Song Sanctuaries, where nearly everything - plant, animal, and Threadling alike - communicates in song. The Order takes its name from the hem of sound said to run along the border of the Sanctuaries, a low, constant hum that rises to warn its keepers whenever the Weave nearby begins to fray.

Members of the Order serve as both keepers and wardens: keepers of sound, music, and song as the pillars of storytelling in a land that has never needed spoken words to tell its history, and wardens of the Weave's fraying edges as the Void threatens the very existence of the Sanctuaries. Monks of the Humming Hem are recognisable by their habit of listening, sometimes for hours, to spaces most Threadlings would call silent, because in the Song Sanctuaries, silence is the only sound that should never be heard.
