Vulcan [Paid]
Vulcan is an cheat detection plugin which operates at the packet level. It has a plethora of features, including a in-game GUI, ban waves, discord notifications, and even BungeeCord support. It is capable of detecting combat hacks (Aim Assist, KillAura, Reach, Velocity etc), movement hacks (Speed, Air Jump, Jesus, Flight etc), and even miscellaneous hacks (Bad Packets, InventoryMove, Scaffold etc).
SETUP
First, download Vulcan on their Spigot page, upload the JAR file into your plugins folder, and restart your server! If you want to use this plugin with bungeecord, check out the instructions on Vulcan's Bungee Page for details. Remember, unlike certain anticheats, Vulcan's default configuration is able to be used on production servers right off the bat. However, its configuation options can be still edited in-game with /vulcan gui
or through the config.yml
.
Spartan [Paid]
Spartan is a anticheat similar to Vulcan. However, there is indeed one major difference: it is notorious for causing insane amounts of lag. Furthermore, the reviews are skewed & untrustworthy due to the developer only offering refunds upon review deletion. However, Spartan has released much features recently due to being forced to follow SpigotMC's rules - giving it a some extra perks over the competition.
SETUP
Start by downloading Spartan on their Spigot page, upload the JAR file into your plugins folder, and restart your server! If you want to use this plugin with bungeecord, then you're in luck: Spartan has bungee cord functionality built-in.
GrimAC [Free]
GrimAC is a new and upcoming anticheat, and one of the first of its kind. It is a prediction based anticheat and simulates all possible vanilla movements, meaning it's theoretically unbypassable. However, it should be noted that the project is technically still in beta, and it does not extensively cover combat checks.
SETUP
Download Grim by heading over to their Spigot page. Then, upload the JAR file into your plugins folder, and restart your server! However, please note that if you are using Protocollib you will need to be on a 'dev' version - take caution, as it may be incompatible with some of your other plugins! You can download the latest build of Protocollib here.
Themis [Free]
Themis is a well-known lightweight & free anticheat that has been around for over a year. It's currently one of the best check-based free anticheats around! What makes Themis stand out even more is the fact that it actually checks Bedrock players who have connected through Geyser - instead of simply ignoring them like its competitors. (e.g. Vulcan and Grim)
SETUP
Start by downloading Themis on their Spigot page, upload the JAR file into your plugins folder, and restart your server! Please remember you will need Protocollib to run this plugin, and floodgate for Bedrock support.
Tips
It's best practice to have a test server (even a local one if getting a hosted one isn't an option) to test your anti-cheat configuration before deploying it on your production server. It is important that you are aware of the settings and punishments enabled in your anticheat!
Furthermore, as with all anticheats, expect false positives. Please obtain as much information as possible to aid with fixing the broken check, and then report the bug on each respective anticheat's Discord or GitHub.
