Action Message Format

Action Message Format (AMF) is a binary format utilized to serialize ActionScript in a persistent and retrievable state. AMF can be used to store and retrieve the state of the ActionScript object graph in a manner that allows for use across multiple sessions or communication between multiple endpoints. Action Message Format 0 (AMF0) was originally introduced in 2001 via Adobe Flash Player 6. Adobe Flash Player 9 saw the release of Action Message Format 3 (AMF3).
