Host: Paul Albertella
Participants: Pete Brink, Igor Stoppa, Daniel Krippner, Pete Brink
Agenda
- Document evaluation criteria
- Trustable Software Framework
Document evaluation
Objective with the criteria is to describe some basic engineering principles that can reasonably be applied to reviewing documents.
By documenting these, and then stating which of these we have applied in a review, we can at least be clear about what ‘reviewed’ means.
An important point is that comments should be either:
- questions that can be answered
- actionable requests for change or clarification - with an appropriate (ideally objective) justification
TSF
Daniel: How do we get a standard somewhere to refer to TSF, to make it an ‘accepted’ methodology? Otherwise, many organisations will not want to use it.
Pete: But many ISO standards do not enforce a particular set of methodologies
Paul: Alternatively you need to convince the assessors that it is valid.
Pete: One problem is that the standards only say ‘what’ is good, without always saying ‘how’ or ‘why’.
Igor: Another problem with standards is that they aren’t freely accessible to the community
Pete: The SWEBOK is freely available
