Everything seemed to be rather slow. That makes sense, as I was using a web browser to access a VM, so that I could access another pair of VMs within a remote network, also through a web browser. Is it any surprise that it was a slow, laggy process?

Windows does not make the system configuration easy to access. To change the connection config from DHCP to manual, I had to go to the settings for the ethernet connection, and from there, I had to go to the configuration, find the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties menu, and, finally, click the configuration button. This was not clear, and I had to figure it out myself.

The tracert command allows you to set the maximum hops with the option -h <maximum hops>, so to only see the first 3 hops, for instance, one can use the command tracert -h 3 for.example to see the first three hops on the route from their device to for.example.
