Shape Settings - elanthia-online/dr-scripts GitHub Wiki

Description

Makes one shaping item (Engineering), such as a bow, arrows, a burin, wood jewelry, a staff or a table. It studies the recipe, takes the lumber and tools, and works the item through every step the game asks for: scraping, shaping, carving, rasping, clamping, gluing, staining, and assembling parts such as backers, strings, flights and arrowheads. It can also enhance a bow you're holding.

It works where you're standing. It only walks anywhere to buy glue or stain, and comes straight back.

workorders and craft run it for shaping, arrows runs it to make arrows, and taskmaster runs it for shaping tasks.

See Crafting Setup for engineering tools, toolbelts and books.

Tools

crafting_container: backpack
crafting_items_in_container:
shaping_belt:
engineering_belt:
Setting Default Purpose
crafting_container backpack Where your tools, lumber, parts, glue, stain and shaping book are kept, and where tools go back when they're not on your belt. If something won't fit, it's STOWed instead.
crafting_items_in_container Items to take only from crafting_container.
shaping_belt Toolbelt your shaping tools hang on. Tools on it are untied from it and tied back on. Falls back to engineering_belt.

You need a drawknife, a shaper, a carving knife, a rasp and clamps, plus a stamp for mark_crafted_goods. Shape always asks for them by those names (get my drawknife, get my clamps and so on).

shaping_tools (carving knife, clamps, drawknife, rasp, shaper) isn't read by shape. It's the list workorders repairs and clerk-tools fetches.

If a tool can't be found, it says "You seem to be missing" and the tool's name, and stops.

Glue and stain

hometown: Crossing
force_crafting_town:

Before starting, it checks the consumables the chapter uses:

Chapter Checks
2, 3 and 4 (bows) glue and stain
5 (arrows) glue
10 (furniture) stain
any other, and the instructions form nothing

For each one, it takes it out of crafting_container and COUNTs it. If you have none there, or it's down to fewer than 3 uses, it throws it away and buys a new one at the engineering supply shop in your force_crafting_town (or hometown). It only looks in crafting_container, so keep your glue and stain there, not on your belt. The skip argument turns this check off.

If a step needs glue or stain and you have none, it goes and buys some, then carries on, even with skip.

The towns it can buy in are Crossing, Leth Deriel, Riverhaven, Langenfirth, Therenborough, Ratha, Shard, Muspar'i, Hibarnhvidar, Boar Clan and Fang Cove. Elsewhere it can't buy them, so keep your own and use skip.

The recipe

master_crafting_book:

It uses your master_crafting_book if set, otherwise a shaping book from crafting_container. When your Engineering is exactly 175, it reminds you to upgrade to a journeyman or master book before 176. With the instructions form, it studies your instructions instead.

Magic and buffs

waggle_sets:
  shape:
crafting_training_spells:

Before starting it casts your shape waggle set, if you have one. It also casts your crafting_training_spells between steps, and releases them when it's done.

Finished items

mark_crafted_goods: false
worn_trashcan:
worn_trashcan_verb:
Setting Default Purpose
mark_crafted_goods false Mark the finished item with your stamp. Not done for arrows (chapter 5) or bow enhancements.
worn_trashcan With the trash finish, throw the item in this worn container, if you have one.
worn_trashcan_verb The verb that empties your worn trashcan.

Other settings

Setting Default Purpose
cube_armor_piece The item your Hollow Eve cube is attached to. It's touched when work starts.

How it works

There are no settings for these; this is what to expect.

  • Starting material. Most recipes, including burins and the instructions form, start from <material> lumber with your drawknife. Arrows (chapter 5) start from arrow <material> with your shaper; pass shafts as the material to use your arrow shafts. Bow enhancements start with the bow in your hands. If the material doesn't end up in your hands, it says "Please hold the item or material you wish to work on." and stops. For arrows, it stops with an error instead. Start a new item with your hands empty.
  • Each step. It does what the game asks for next, swapping tools as needed: SHAPE with the shaper, CARVE with the carving knife, SCRAPE with the rasp, PUSH with the clamps, or APPLY glue or stain. If the tool doesn't suit the step, it ANALYZEs the item to find the next one.
  • Parts. When the game asks for a part (a backer, leather strips, a bow string, long or short poles, a leather cord, arrow flights or arrowheads), it gets it from crafting_container or your belt and ASSEMBLEs it.
  • In combat. If you're engaged, it retreats and waits 10 seconds.
  • Not enough material. It says "NOT ENOUGH MATERIAL TO CRAFT", puts the tool in your hand away and stops.
  • The item is inside something, or you fumble. It says "ERROR TRYING TO CRAFT, EXITING" and stops.
  • When it's done, it marks the item (with mark_crafted_goods), then holds, stows, logs or trashes it (see below). Anything you dropped is picked up and put away.

Argument Settings

Make an item from a book:

;shape <finish> <chapter> "<recipe name>" <material> <noun> [skip]

Argument Purpose
finish What to do with the finished item: hold, stow (in crafting_container), log (bundle it with your engineering logbook) or trash.
chapter The recipe's chapter.
recipe name The recipe name, in double quotes if more than one word.
material The wood type, e.g. maple. For arrows, shafts.
noun The finished item's noun.
skip Don't check glue or stain at the start.

With log, an item the logbook won't take (wrong type, too low quality, or an expired work order) is thrown away.

Make an item from instructions:

;shape <hold|stow> instructions <material> <noun> [skip]

Studies <noun> instructions from crafting_container, puts them back, then starts on <material> lumber.

Enhance a bow:

;shape <laminate|lighten|cable> <noun>

Hold the bow. laminate, lighten and cable are bow lamination, lightening and cable-backing. The bow stays in your hands when it's done.

Resume an item you're holding:

;shape resume <noun>

ANALYZEs the item and carries on from there. It doesn't check glue or stain first. The item stays in your hands when it's done.

Usage

;shape stow 2 "a toy bow" maple bow

;shape log 7 "a wood ring" oak ring

;shape stow 5 "boar-tusk arrows" shafts arrows

;shape stow instructions maple bow

;shape lighten bow

;shape resume bow
