One of the most notable features of BetterBeginnings is the hardcore block breaking mechanic. Most blocks cannot be broken without the correct tool, reappearing as if it were never broken in the first place. This also occurs when the tool is not powerful enough to break the block (e.g., breaking gold ore with a stone pickaxe). Blocks that are broken quickly with a shovel follow the vanilla block breaking mechanic.

##Stuck? If you find yourself stuck in a hole, surrounded by blocks you cannot break, fear not! If you break a block with your fists twice, it will be broken for sure, but it won't drop anything. It will damage you both times (if you're not on peaceful), so you can call that damage "motivation".
