The formulation of the macroelement is presented in the paper: Vanin F., Penna A., Beyer K. (2019), A three-dimensional macro-element for modelling of the in-plane and out-of-plane response of masonry walls, submitted to Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics.

The derivations that are not included in the paper can be downloaded here. They include:

• the exact compatibility equations for large displacements
• the expression of the incremental equilibrium matrix for the P-Delta formulation
• the derivation of equilibrium conditions when distributed loads are applied
• the expressions defining the nonlinear elastic sectional model for flexure
• the derivation of the consistent and lumped mass matrices and a discussion on the introduced error.
