Installing OpenSees - eesd-epfl/OpenSees GitHub Wiki

All information about the installation of OpenSees on a new machine can be found in the OpenSees website via registration. The binaries of the developed libraries provided here were compiled for the 64-bit version.

A new copy of the OpenSees executable is not necessary, unless new sectional models (noTensionSection3d, OrthotropicMembraneSection) are called through a "section" command. In this case the binary can be download here (64-bit version, built for a Windows machine).

The download of the source code is not required unless it is necessary to build a new executable. In this case, a list of the modified files and the additional files to include is provided here.

NOTE: for using a new executable the Tcl library to be installed must be version 8.6 (version 8.5 is instead required for the executable that can downloaded from the OpenSees website). If already present, the older version can be uninstalled with '($TclFolder)\lib\ppm\log\activetcl8.5-thread\uninstall.exe' and the updated version downloaded here.
