Paging on a VoIP system is also called Intercoming. Depends on the customer and how their previous system handled it. Within the Nimbus there is the paging module (Free and installed by default) and the paid version called Paging Pro. The paging module is pretty simple to setup. Give it a # for the users to dial, give it a name, add some phones to it (By default 40 is the max) , add a alert tone and leave the rest as default. Usage, the user dials the number you assigned and an alert noise will sound over the associated phones. BE AWARE that the system places a phone call to each phone in the group during the page. This can place a fair amount of traffic on the network and the system.

There is another way to place a paging call. That is to use the network protocol called Multicast. All it takes is to setup a Multicast IP address with a port. A typical multicast IP address falls within the range of 224.0.0.0 to 239.255.255.255. So take your pick, you also need a port number. The port number is up to you. The Paging Pro will allow you to setup the Multicast paging. Most phones have Multicast paging available in their programming. If you have access to the phones you can setup this paging without the phone system. Program a key for paging with that IP and address. Also, if the endpoint manager has the provisioning of Multicast you can use that. The traffic on the network is a single audio stream on the multicast IP:port. ONLY one stream! All the phones "Listen" on that IP:Port and if there is any traffic they open the speaker and pass the audio, just like magic.

A third way to setup paging is to use discrete amplifiers with speakers (Old School). Install a Snom paging adapter. This adapter connects as an extension and then it connects to the amplifier. Once the extension is called it makes an audio connection to the anmplifier and the page goes out over the speakers. There is also a way to make a noise over the speakers to indicate a call is ringing. Contact CQ Support for more information.
