Conferences.md - edlentz/Nimbus GitHub Wiki

In FreePBX, the Conferences module allows you to create virtual meeting rooms where multiple callers (internal or external) can dial in and talk to each other — like a teleconference bridge.

It’s a way to allow multiple people to join a single call, useful for meetings, support teams, remote workers, etc.

🔧 Core Features

Feature | Description -- | -- Conference Room Number | An internal extension that users dial to join the meeting. PINs | Security codes for participants and/or admins. Music on Hold | Played until the conference starts. User/Leader Roles | Define who controls the room (mute others, kick users, etc.). Announce Join/Leave | Audio notification when users join or leave. Talker Optimization | Mutes non-talking users to save bandwidth and improve quality.

Click Submit, then Apply Config.

☎️ Dialing into the Conference

  • Internal Users: Dial the conference number (e.g., 8000) from their phones.

  • External Callers: Route a DID to the conference (via Inbound Routes).

Example:

  1. Create an Inbound Route for DID 123-456-7890

  2. Set Destination to → Conferences → 8000 (Sales Meeting Room)

Now external callers can dial in from outside the office.
