Compatibility

For now, Echelon is only currently supported for the following:

  • Windows 7
  • Windows 8.1
  • Windows 10
  • Windows 11
  • Linux (only supported for versions of Echelon before 2.0.0)

Beware that Echelon requires a Firefox fork that restores native styled controls for any version newer than Firefox 115. Results may vary on normal Firefox versions after 115.

Firefox forks or modifications compatible with Echelon

Firefox Native Controls Patch

Firefox Native Controls Patch restores removed native styled controls (such as the scrollbars) to Firefox 115ESR. It also includes the ability to show the native titlebar on Windows 10/11.

Marble

Marble is a fork for Firefox 133 only for Windows. It adds restores removed native styled controls (such as the native titlebar), only supports Windows 10/11.

Installing Echelon

To begin, download Echelon from the releases page

Windows

  1. On Firefox, open the about:support page
  2. Look for Profile Folder under Application Basics and press the Open Folder button
  3. Copy the chrome folder inside of Echelon/Profile Folder to the directory of your profile that opened
  4. In your Firefox installation folder*, copy the contents of the Firefox Folder inside the Echelon folder to the directory of the Firefox installation. (You may need administrator privileges to perform this step.)
  5. Go back to your Firefox window, and press Clear startup cache followed by confirming the prompt that displays.

*You can find your Firefox installation folder by finding a Firefox shortcut, right-click it, and select Open file location
