Commands & Instructions

  • N/A

Problems & Troubleshooting

  • Only issue we had was someone misread their MAC address so we were confused at first but this was fixed very quickly.

Questions

    • Answer: Does the source MAC address look familiar from prior labs? Do you think it is the Google Server's MAC address?
      • The source MAC address is the same as the default gateway, so I don’t think it's Google's MAC address.
  • Deliverable2: What are the source and destination MACs in the ping reply

  • What is your partner's MAC address?

    • My partner's MAC address is 00-0C-29-D0-7A-1B
  • Deliverable3: Does the MAC address match the address from your traffic capture? If not - what do you think happened?

      • It does match the mac address from the traffic capture.
  • **Deliverable4: **

    • On your workstation, what is the source and destination MACs from the pings?

    • On your partner's workstation, what is the source and destination MACs from the pings?
      • Source: 00:0C:28:43:F7:8E
      • Destination: 00:0C:29:88:B1:2E
  • Deliverable5: Why do you think they are different?

    • The source MAC address is different because my partner is most likely seeing the switch’s mac address, as it is broadcasting the request to the devices on the LAN.
