Translation Managers are volunteers that contribute to the DuckDuckGo community by reviewing and improving translations.
- Review translations and mark them as invalid if they are: completely wrong, inappropriate (for example spam) or do not use %s parameters correctly.
- Follow up on comments and/or questions from translators.
- You should be able to demonstrate professional proficiency in the language and ideally it should be your mother tongue.
- If you have made significant contributions for your language, either on this project or other projects tell us when you apply. This is usually between 50-100 translations in use on DuckDuckGo.com. You can see this on the right side of your userpage e.g. https://duck.co/user/zac . To enable this option see Appendix
If you'd like to volunteer to be a token manager, please send your community platform account name to [email protected] so that we can get your account set up for token management.

- Your account on the Community Platform is publicly visible so other people can find and contact you.
- Add your username to the list of TM's on the end of this page.
- Communication through the mailing list: duckduckgo-translation [at] listbox.com
- There are Discussion forums per domain. Communicate about tokens and translation with translators with this public available program. (For future translators some things are clear to them by reading these discussions.)
- Every token can have comments. This is a nice way to let everyone know why a token have been set to invalid.
- If there is more than one TM and if the language has no fixed orthography, the TM's should agree a common standard. Find the best way to communicate with each other.
- Once a specific orthography has been established on DDG for localization into your language, this should be followed by new TM's unless there is a overwhelming case for changing this.
Adding token notes is essential to help our community understand the purpose of a translation. You as a Translation Manager can add token notes. Notes are the same across all languages so your updates to a token's note will show for every other language in the system. So that is why the following rules are applying to the adding token notes:
- Notes must be in English (since they are shown to all translators in every language)
- Try not to delete or edit a current note, unless you're adding more explanation or information.
- Translations are informal.

Here are some short tutorials regarding FAQ by new/future Translation Managers that are referenced in the text above.
To enable the language count number on your userpage, you can do the following:
- Open your userpage (click on your name on the right on the screen)
- Scroll down and you will see Your userpage and click on Edit userpage
- Scroll all the way down to Other Widgets
- Show your languages and translation counts publicly? Set it to Yes
- Click on Save Changes
