Subject Complement

Form : Sub-LV-Complement

Complement
   predicate nominative
   predicate adjective

Example: is, are, was, were, seem, feel, appear, become, smell, taste

  • Linking verb does not mean anything, it just joins the subject and predicate

  • predicate nominative: Louis was president of the student body. was is =. We can swap it.

  • predicate adjective: Ramona became angry when the bus was late. became use for describe something usually senesor.

Example

  • The idea of the student was good. The student's idea was good

  • The cause of our school's failure at teaching basic skill is not understanding the influence of cultural background on learning. Our schools have failed to teach basic skills because educators do not understand how cultural backgrounds influence learning

  • A revision of the program will result in increases in our efficiency in the servicing of our customers. If we revise the program, we can serve our customer more efficiently.
