Overview

I've worked in a medium sized HVAC business over the past four years, and one of their biggest issues is inventory management. Every month, someone has to go to the warehouse and physically count inventory that is available and reserved for a project. Automating that process would allow the reorganization of resources and a streamlined process of inventory management, and also would allow access to more information when ordering more inventory.

Topic Description

I propose to develop and implement an inventory management software for a local HVAC company, and adhering to their requirements for the project. Initial ideas include the use of a barcode system for products and locations, the storage of serial numbers of applicable parts and equipment, on hand and on order numbers, as well as automated alerts or ordering with maximum and minimum quantities, manual audits, and cycle counts for fast-moving inventory.
