How does the assembly differ in version 2?

You can follow the videos for Version 1 with respect to building the shifters, PCB and cables, then follow the rest of the instructions below for 2.0

Assemble the Axle:

Items required:

  1. Press the 5/16" bolt into the 40t Hex Gear. It should be a very tight fit and will probably take a vise or gentle tapping with a hammer to get it fully seated in place.
  2. Press one of the nuts into the Hex Knob Cup. It will slightly protrude from the knob cup to provide adequate spacing against the bearing in a later step.
  3. Slide both 608 skate bearings over the bolt.
  4. Apply Loctite to the bolt threads near the bearing, being careful not to get it into the bearings themselves.
  5. Screw the Knob cup onto the bolt until it tightens against the bearings. Hold the gear with a towel to tighten it by hand being careful not to strip out the indentation for the hex nut on the knob cup. Don't worry about getting it too tight as the Loctite will keep it in place.
  6. Install the washer over the bolt and apply more Loctite on the end of the bolt and tighten with a 1/2" socket, holding the knob cup with your other hand.

Axle Assembly

Items required:

  1. Press the 11T gear onto the stepper shaft.
  2. Pre-wire the DC power connector and 3.5mm jack with JST connectors and place them in the respective holes in each case half.
  3. Place the stepper motor, axle, and PCB into their respective locations in the case half.

Assembly

Assemble the case halves.

Items required:

  1. Carefully position the wires so they don't pinch between the case halves.
  2. Gently click the case together taking care to not put excess strain on the PCB.
  3. Tighten the 4 screws into the case.
