Stage head design and part selection

• The border below the cooling plate which fits the microscope stage opening could be removed. This would move the sample closer to the normal focal plane and might remove the need to work with parafocal extenders on the microscope objective.
• a linear actuator with encoder would solve many problems. The motor would always report its position and the safety checks to not drive to the end of the range could be omitted
