Meeting minutes 2024 02 01 - dita-ot/dita-ot GitHub Wiki

Attendance: Radu Coravu, Jarno Elovirta, Robert Anderson, Roger Sheen, Zoe Lawson, John Kirkilis, Frank Wegmann, Josh Johnson, Kris Eberlein, John Pashley, Eric Sirois, Chris Papademetrious, Brianna Stevens-Russell

Item 1: Any updates about prior releases?

Not expecting another patch for 4.1 at this point

Item 2: DITA-OT 4.2 Development status and updates

Project board for next release: https://github.com/orgs/dita-ot/projects/42

In last few weeks, went through quite a few pull requests; updated to latest OASIS grammar files

Found one bug in last week with preprocess2 related to local non-DITA files referenced from topics (not maps).

Discussion of HTML5 converting to preprocess2 - have a few people who have tried it, seems working well

We are aware of one new issue with branch filtering combined with conref that does not have an obvious fix, unlikely to make the release

Item 3: Doc updates and plans

Looking for focus areas to target the release - not a lot of time left and Roger has less free time than in the past. For some issues, may need to refer to existing pull requests / issues for descriptions.

Discussion of doc issue for FAQ -- that is going to target the web site rather than the docs, may not be ready for 4.2 but could be updated separate from that timeline.

Lightweight DITA plugin - need to gather some of the info, release notes can have basics and can update docs further in patch. Normal expectation is that at dita-ot day we get a lot of comments that lead to a patch, which can include doc updates as well.

Jarno - would like to have updated more around CLI, there are some things we need to document now. Like "why did I get weird characters in the log" -- answer, need to use the no-color option, which was in our 3.7 release notes but not in the list of parameters.

Item 4: DITA-OT Day 2024

Looking ready. Syncro has been sending out confirmation emails.

Item 5: Other discussion
