Meeting minutes 2019 08 01 - dita-ot/dita-ot GitHub Wiki

Attendance: Robert Anderson, George Bina, John Pashley, Lief Erickson, Aaron DaMommio, Roger Sheen, Shane Taylor, John Kirkilis,

Item 1: Any updates about prior releases?

3.3.3 is out; should we start a branch for 3.3.4? Robert has one thing ready to go in, but could also wait for 3.4. Roger and Robert inclined to created a 3.3.4 branch, and target that with the new pull request.

Item 2: DITA-OT 3.4 Development status and updates

3.4 project board: https://github.com/orgs/dita-ot/projects/12

Not much update over July with most developers out of the office.

Looking at creating the hotfix/3.4 release branch earlier than we usually would for a release, to give more time to build a package and test packages before final release. Docs not yet complete, will likely be updated along with release.

Item 3: Doc updates and plans, update on documentation call

No real update this week due to people out of office.

Lief has continued working on / talking to Kris about indexing. Lief has completed usability testing of the index in our docs; results mixed. May have to do with the questions -- "Using the index, find the answer to a question". Easy to find. Questions requiring use of see / see-also, or to know some synonyms, caused more difficulties.

Question about abbreviated-form and glossary; likely have an issue open already so best bet is to search the tracker, but may have been closed by bot.

Item 4: DITA-OT Day 2019

Plan to publish preliminary agenda next week. Still have a couple of open slots for lightning talks if we get submissions. Lief would like to present about the indexing / taxonomy work that's been done on DITA-OT docs, but not sure yet if Lief can make it.

Still have some logistics for George to work out.

Item 5: Other topics

George started playing with DITA project files last week and may have some feedback coming - probably by our next call, which should be Sept 5.

Item 6: Backlog discussion

Project boards: Project boards: https://github.com/orgs/dita-ot/projects/

Time to go through pull requests, issues tracker, determine how to handle open issues.
