Telemetry Bin: Troubleshooting - directedmachines/customer-support GitHub Wiki

GPS Location Is Wrong

  • Check the USB connection of the GPS antenna to the Raspberry Pi (small computer). Determining if the cable is fully inserted can be difficult because it is partially hidden by LTE modem.

  • Make sure the magnetic bottom of the GPS antenna is sitting on a metal surface and that the black top of the GPS antenna has a clear view of the sky (southern exposure is best).

Telemetry Data Is Not Reporting

  • Check the power connection to the Raspberry Pi. You should see a green LED flashing occasionally. If a solid red LED is on and no green LED flashes, then fully disconnect and reconnect the power to the Raspberry Pi to reboot. After about 5 minutes, telemetry data should start reporting. Note: If your Telemetry Bin is hardwired to the battery, then always disconnect the red/positive wire first.

  • If no LEDs are visible on the LTE modem, then power to the Raspberry Pi must be disconnected and reconnected. One potential cause of this is that the device is connected (most likely via USB A to Micro USB cable) to a USB port that does not transmit sufficient power. If you are using a USB A port/cable to power your Telemetry Bin, try connecting it to a different USB port than you tried initially.
