Charging Guidance - directedmachines/customer-support GitHub Wiki
Overview
- The LCR has a low power draw when idle, but it still must receive some charge either from solar or an AC charger.
- The LCR must be charged immediately if energy level falls below 20%, otherwise there is risk to batteries.
- AC charging may be required in winter months due to shorter days and cold temperatures
- WARNING: Batteries can be damaged if charged below 3°C (37.4°F) AT ANY POINT DURING AC CHARGING. In cold weather please move to a heated space and allow the batteries to warm up before AC charging. We are not responsible for damage to batteries if charged below this temperature threshold.
Example: It is 5°C (41°F) at 4 PM when the LCR is plugged-in and the temperature drops to 1°C (33.8°F) (below the 3°C (37.4°F) threshold). Irreversible damage can result.
Signs of Dangerously Low Power
- Tray lights turning off when pressing the hitch switch
Solar Charging
For proper solar charging please follow the guidance below:
- Solar charge in an open, unshaded space without any objects covering the solar panel.
AC Charging
- The outlet must be able to provide a continuous 15 Amps.
- Follow instructions for your specific charger and battery chemistry at the links below.

- When charging the LCR or using inverter outlets on the LCR, renogy must be ON.
- The renogy must be OFF unless AC charging or using inverter. It must always be off if not in one of those conditions.
