3.6 Replicate Wolf Launcher configuration to other devices - dikodahan/dikodahan.github.io GitHub Wiki

If you only have a single streaming device and have no need to configure multiple ones, you can skip this section!

Most of us usually have more than a single streaming device at home. Whether it be for multiple TVs and/or for a dedicated device used when traveling. This makes it even more annoying when you need to manually configure all the steps in Wolf Launcher to customize the look and feel with sections, labels, apps to sections allocation (only if the same app is installed on both devices), wallpaper, folders, passwords, etc.

This section of the guide follows you through the steps to quite easily back the configuration from your "primary" device and restore it on multiple "secondary" ones. Since the backup and restore procedures only copy/paste the configuration parameters, you can even run this on completely different devices. For example, your "primary" device is a Fire TV 4K Stick and your "secondary" device is a Google Chromecast with Google TV.

Primary Device - Backup

Run these steps on your "primary" device after you have completed all your Home screen customization (instructions on pages 3.1 & 3.2 of this guide)
  1. In the main Home screen, with one of the apps on screen highlighted, press and hold the OK button for the Wolf Launcher side menu to appear.
  2. Select: Other Settings.
    1. if you get prompt to allow access to files, select Allow. You will need to enter Other Settings again to continue.
  3. Click on the Clear option under Clear Image / Banner Cache.
    1. This will delete any old, unused background and folder images you downloaded and are no longer using.
  4. Click on the Backup option under Backup / Restore Options.
    1. This will create a backup folder on the root file system of your streaming device with the name WOLF_BACKUP.
  5. Press the Back button a few times to go back to your device Home screen.
  6. From your Home screen, launch the Unlinked app store to install the X-Plore File Manager from the Tools & Utilities section.
    1. Exit to the Home screen once done.
  7. Back from the home screen, launch the X-Plore app.
    1. If prompt with device storage access permissions, choose Allow.
  8. On the left-hand side of the screen, click on Internal shared storage. Scroll to the bottom of that directory and you will see a directory called "WOLF_BACKUP".
    1. This is the backup directory we need to copy onto other devices we want to restore with the same settings and configuration.
  9. In the middle of the screen in the X-Plore app you can see a Menu. Click on WiFi server. A short notification on-screen will tell you that WiFi server started.

Secondary Device - Restore

Run these steps on your "secondary" device after you have installed Wolf Launcher on your device (instructions on page 3.1 of this guide). You can run these steps multiple times if you have more than just one secondary device with the same original backup.
You do not need to configure anything in Wolf Launcher interface!
  1. From your Home screen, launch the Unlinked app store to install the X-Plore File Manager from the Tools & Utilities section.
    1. Exit to the Home screen once done.
  2. Back from the home screen, launch the X-Plore app.

  3. NOTE! Make sure both devices are on the same network before moving on to the next step!
  4. On the left hand side of the screen and expand Internal shared storage
  5. Move over to the right hand side of the screen, expand: WiFi file sharing > Add device > Scan.
    1. This will find your Primary device (name will vary).
  6. Select your other device to expand its content > Internal shared storage.
    1. Scroll to the bottom to the WOLF_BACKUP folder. Press and hold the OK button while the WOLF_BACKUP folder is highlighted.
    2. In the popup menu, choose: Copy > OK.
      1. Wait until the copy operation is done.
    3. To validate that the copy operation was successful, on the left hand side of the screen scroll down to make sure you can see the WOLF_BACKUP folder.
  7. Press the Back button a couple of time to exit back to the Home screen.
  8. Press and hold the OK button for the side menu to appear.

  10. Click the Restore button under the Backup / Restore Options.
    1. The Home launcher will quickly reset itself and all your settings are restored.
Since there may be some discrepancies between the devices, such different apps installed, you may need to make some final tweaks to the interface as needed.

Primary Device - Turn off WiFi Server

  1. Back on your primary device, make sure to press the WiFi Server option in the middle menu section.
    1. You will notice that the Green dot on it has disappeared, which indicates that the WiFi server has stopped it's operation.
