As many of us choose to leave paid streaming services (like; Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Hulu...) for the free services offered through this guide, it leaves several unused remote control buttons, especially those that are App Launch buttons for the services you no longer use...
In this section, I will show you how to leverage these button by mapping them from their default behavior, like launching Netflix, to launch your new favorite streaming app.

If your remote control does not have any app launch buttons (like on the previous versions of Fire TV remote), you can skip this part of the guide! |

There are many types of remote controls out there. Both ones that are the native remote for your streaming device, but also ones that you can buy for your streaming device that have a build-in keyboard and air-mouse functionality:
Note! If you choose to buy a Keyboard / Air Mouse remote you will need a USB port on your device for the remote receiver. If you device does not have a USB port open to use on it, you will also need to purchase an OTG (On The Go) cable for your device. Here are a couple of options to consider: Option 1, Option 2. Please make sure to order an OTG cable with the correct USB connector as your device! For example; FTV devices use a Micro USB connector. ATV/GTV devices vary and may use a USB-C or Micro-USB connector.
You also have the option to use a Bluetooth remote with Air-Mouse functionality. The benefit is obviously the fact that you do not need an a USB adapter for it to work with your streaming device. You can simply connect the remote over Bluetooth.
The best option I found is the G20S Pro BT remote. I have it listed here, both with an Amazon link and an Ali Express link:

As you can see above, there are many variations of the remote control, but they all have the same functions. Most of them also have the App Launcher buttons that we can use to remap to other apps or operations as we see fit.
Please refer back to Section 1.2 at the bottom. Expand the virtual mouse installation section. You will need the app to setup up button redirection. Item 5 towards the end of that section explains that process.
