DDB G0293918 appears to encode the Dictyostelium ortholog of telomerase, a reverse transcriptase required for telomere repeat synthesis, which occurs to compensate the loss of repeats that occur during chromosomal replication.

The expression level of the gene appears to be extremely low (3 hits in a RNASeq survey in which the modal gene received 250 hits).
