DDB_G0284013 is similar to spindle-pole-component25, which interacts with Ndc80 in the attachment of microtubules to kinetochores (recent ref: Wilson-Kubalek et al, JCB 182 (2008). Dicty has a probable Ndc80 homolog, DDB_G0284003). DDB G0284013 is overexpressed 16-fold in a Dictyostelium strain lacking the Dicty retinoblastoma like gene, rblA. This strain overexpresses most genes known to be involved in DNA replication and mitosis, but few other genes (Doquang et al, in preparation). This suggests that DDB G0284013 is involved in Dictyostelium cell cycle progression.
