pakC - dictyBase/community-annotations GitHub Wiki
PakC is the newest member of the Pak-like subfamily, which is part of the larger family of Ste20-like kinases in D. discoideum (see svkA (sevkin) for more on Ste20-like kinases).
The Pak-like subfamily is specific for D. discoideum and the kinase domains of its members PakE, PakF, PakG and PakH, are closer related to GCKs as to PAKs (see also phylogenetic tree svkA). They contain a possible regulatory domain C-terminal to the kinase domain and, additionally, contain a N-terminal regulatory domain with a functional PDB/CRIB domain characteristic for PAKs (Goldberg et al.).
The Schleicher group is currently investigating the knockout phenotypes.
