Updating your Ledger device to the latest firmware adds security improvements and new features to your Ledger wallet.
Please download the last update of Ledger Live Application:
1.Ledger Live for Windows 10/11
2.Ledger Live for MAC
3.Ledger Live for Android
Before you start
- Install Ledger Live on your computer.
- Make sure that your recovery phrase is backed up and accessible in case something goes wrong.
- For the process, you’ll need your Ledger device and a USB cable.
- Keep in mind that applications on your Ledger device might be automatically uninstalled after the entire process.
Note: the firmware update process is the same on Ledger Nano S, Ledger Nano S Plus, and Ledger Nano X devices.
Here’s how to do it
1. Install and run Ledger Live
Open the Ledger Live app on your computer.
2. Connect your Ledger device
Plug your Ledger device into your computer USB port and enter your PIN unlock.
3. Click on the manager menu
Once your Ledger device has connected successfully, navigate to the Manager menu and click on it.
4. Click on the update firmware button
On top of the screen, you’ll see a notification banner displayed. Click on “Update firmware” on the top right corner of your screen.
5. Recovery phrase backup
Read the displayed information and confirm that “you have your recovery phrase backed up” by ticking the box, then click on “Continue”
6. Firmware update
The firmware update will begin downloading from 0% to 100%.
7. Verify the identifier
Once the process is completed, you’ll need to match the Identifier numbers on your computer screen with the numbers on your Ledger device.
8. Wait for the Bootloader update process to finish
Once you have confirmed on your Ledger device by pressing the buttons as indicated on the screen. Enter your pin. Your Ledger device will reboot into bootloader mode. The bootloader will start updating. Wait for the Bootloader updating process to finish.
9. Wait for the firmware update to finish
After the bootloader has updated, wait for the firmware update process to finish. After that, your Ledger device will restart. Enter your pin to unlock your device.
10. Firmware update successfully
Now, you have updated your Ledger firmware successfully. You can start installing apps back on your Ledger device again. Click on “Install apps” to proceed.
Note: If your device displays after updating your firmware. It has been reset. But don’t worry because your assets are all safe. You only need to restore your private keys with your backup recovery phrase and reinstall your asset apps.
Also, in a rare case, if you experience Bluetooth pairing issues after updating your firmware, forget your Ledger device on your smartphone, and connect back to your device again.
