procedures for a turn that the 'DM' checks:

  1. Roll for wandering monster(1d6: on a 1 an encounter occurs)
  2. party actions
    • movement
    • entering rooms
    • listening
    • searching
    • other
  3. If monsters are:
    • not encountered, go to 8. End of Turn.
    • encountered, DM rolls Number Appearing
  4. DM rolls 2d6 to determine distance ((2d6)*10) // distance measured in ft. //
  5. DM rolls 1d6 for both monsters and party to check for surprise
  6. DM rolls 2d6 for monster reaction
  7. party and monster react:
    • if both sides are willing to talk: DM rolls for monster reactions and initiative as necessary
    • if one side runs away, the DM checks Chance of Evasion and pursuit
    • if combat begins, the game enters a combat phase
  8. End of Turn. DM checks character's:
    1. remaining hit points
    2. whether or not the party needs to rest
    3. changes to the party's Marching Order
    4. changes to possessions
    5. encumbrance
    6. light sources
    7. Spell durations
    8. total time spent in dungeon
