Silver Dwarves

Originating from the Green Valley, the Silver Dwarves are the oldest of the three groups. According to their written and oral tradition, their race was birthed from the demi-gods Htgarth and Ferja, emerged from the sacred Silver Caves during the Mythic Age as told in the "Tö Komakkti" (Srrøskku). However, civilized chroniclers believe them to be one of the descendants of ancient Dwarves who lived deep below the surface of Omniluxia.

Biology

Due to their reclusive nature and isolated history, the Silver Dwarf is known to turn heads when traveling abroad. The bluish tint to their skin is a result of the higher levels of Silver found in their body, levels potentially fatal to any other race. They are naturally very healthy, and on average live slightly longer than humans while also being slightly less fertile due to the build-up of Silver in the body over their longer lifespan. They are physically very strong, much like their Gold and Copper dwarven cousins. They are also known for their long hair and short stature. Silver Dwarven men love sporting long beards and moustaches, while women often braid their long hair.

Society

Silver Dwarven society is characterized by their isolationism and traditionalism. Their isolation means that they have little to no contact with foreign races, with the exemption of the Galmar, and marriage or affairs with foreigners is considered taboo. However, their centuries of isolation have allowed them to retain many traditions and ideas that other dwarven races forsook centuries ago, but also reinforce their suspicion of outsiders. The harsh terrain of their homeland, isolation from outsiders, and reverence of their sacred pair has made family ties one of their strongest values, as well as justifying concepts such as "Litt un Dunn". This dualistic idea that "Lights" cannot exist without "Darks" have made the Silver Dwarves very traditional in gender values, who believe that men and women occupy different spheres in daily life that must coexist to bring balance.

The majority of Silver Dwarves follow their version of the Hebric religion, and venerate their ancestors. In particular, they venerate the demi-god pair Htgarth and Ferja as the true successors of the Stone Father, and the greatest honor a Silver Dwarf can hope to receive is to be buried in the sacred Silver Caves alongside them, believing they will become one with the Stone Father.

The political world of the Silver Dwarves is also tied heavily to their traditions and ancestor worship. Political leaders often try to emulate and tie themselves to famous Silver Dwarven figures in order to gain legitimacy amongst their followers. In a similar fashion, Kingdoms often try and restore or tie themselves to glorious Kingdoms from the past in order to claim legitimacy amongst their subjects. This is best showcased by the Second and Third Kingdoms of Srrørum. Additionally, due to the oral traditions' emphasis on Hthgart's grand building projects, rulers often sponsor grand works of architecture and infrastructure to show off their power and prestige. This practice culminates in the idea of the "Sørrborrs", translated to either "Great Cities" or "World Cities", of the Silver Dwarven world. The grandest and most prestigious cities are granted the suffix of "borr", while major urban centers granted the suffix of "bi", with small hamlets and villages relegated to the suffix "ath".

While not as ornate or skilled as their Gold Dwarven cousins, Silver Dwarven smiths are very innovative when it comes to weapons and armor. This curious trait is due to the role of armor in Silver Dwarven society as markers of status and nobility, with the highest quality and most ornate pieces being available only to Kings and nobles. The Galmar even fashion what they call "Börrnsenn" or "Bone Iron" by using the bones of their enemies to forge armor and weapons worn by elite warriors such as the Forrj Guard, a practice believed to be connected to the stories of the mythical "Forrj".

Overall, the Silver Dwarves are a hardy people whose bravery is only matched by their cunning and typical dwarven hot-headedness. Once accepting of an outsider, they are very friendly, and often treat friends as members of their family. While they may be superstitious and slightly backwards, their adaptation and innovativeness are astounding, seen with the Galmar who have become excellent traders in the north of Morrigon.

Magical Affinity & Development

-Level 2 : 7.5 (2/2/1/2) Ranking-

Historically isolated from the outside world, the Silver Dwarves inherit the dwarven suspicion of magic combined with relatively low Mana stores. While the more open Galmar of the North are a bit more receptive to magic, the magical development of the Anvindr and Dolin is nigh nonexistent, with a token few sorcerers living as hermits in the mountains of the Green Valley, forced to create new unique styles and techniques.
