Welcome to the Unofficial Visual Pinball Wiki

Visual Pinball (VPX) is an open-source pinball simulator that brings the joy of real and original pinball machines to your PC or virtual pinball cabinet. Originally created by Randy Davis and open-sourced in 2010, Visual Pinball is actively maintained by the Visual Pinball development team and supported by a passionate community. VPX is supported only on Windows, while VPX Standalone runs on other operating systems such as MacOS, Linux and Android.

This wiki is a work in progress, but will include:

  • Setup support for both VPX and VPX Standalone, including on Batocera
  • Cabinet-specific workflows (DMD, backglass, 3-screen)
  • Recommended folder structures, tools, and community scripts
  • Ongoing community tips as features evolve

Get started by exploring the links on the right hand side of the page.

[!TIP] Github doesn't offer a convenient way to search for text within a given wiki. Fix this by installing the Github Wiki Search plugin for your browser of choice. It will add a small "Search Wiki" box to the top of the right sidebar. It's available for Firefox, Chrome, & Safari and works great.

This project would not exist without Randy Davis, who released Visual Pinball to the world, and the current Visual Pinball Team who have continuously evolved the platform into the incredible ecosystem it is today.
