General Responses:

1. What are your beliefs on utilizing social media?

General comments: Most people mentioned the firstly mentioned the positives of social media, such as connecting with people, but also acknowledged social media's downfalls, such as cyberbullying and general misuse.

2. What are beliefs on children utilizing social media?

General comments: Don't approve of the children using social media, and think they aren't educated on how to properly interact online.

3. In what ways does this application reflect social media? In what ways does it not?

General comments: Does reflect social media in that it allows people to post their thoughts and display them to the public. Doesn't reflect social media in that the teacher can review posts and filter out inappropriate comments.

4. How do you think kids would interact with this application?

General comments: Children may try hard to be funny or get attention, but there would definitely be students that gain a lot from it.

5. What do you think is the importance of the teacher being able to turn off reviewing children's posts?

General comments: Using the review function allows the teacher to train good behaviour, and then when reviewing is turned off, what students post is more reflective of how they would use social media.

6. Do you think this teaches the positive and negative effects around social media? How?

General comments: highlights the positives of social media more-so that the negatives, however highlighting the negatives would likely make the system too much like social media and therefore not a safe training environment.

7. In what ways would you use DigiLit in your classroom?

General comments: computer classes, free-time, quizzes, and class content.

8. How would you improve the application?

General comments: Increase contrast between tab colours and tab heading, 'delete' instead of 'submit', commenting on other people's posts.

Summary/Analysis

The feedback from this user testing reveals that our prototype achieves the basic functionality we set out to achieve, and users understand the importance of the application to teach children about how to use social media. Based on the feedback, the button to delete and comment and send the student a message saying why was changed to "Delete" from "Submit". The tab colour and tab text colour was also made to be more contrasting.
