Project description

This project consists in developing an Audio-based AR interfact that users will be able to use via the Bose Frames.

These are, to put it simply, a set of headphones mounted onto sunglasses. They have speakers and a microphone. The sunglasses also have a motion sensor comprised of an accelerometer, gyroscope, and a magnetometer.

I will be using them to develop novel ways to display output and input.

Project bidding description

"The project will use the Bose Frames (https://www.bose.co.uk/en_gb/products/frames/bose-frames-alto.html) and their API which give high quality audio feedback from speakers built in to the arms of the sunglasses. We can provide 3D audio to wearers of the glasses to simulate sounds from coming from all around them.

The aim of the project will be to use the capabilities of the glasses to create an 'audio augmented reality' where we augment sound from the environment with audio feedback from a phone linked to the glasses (like you would add visual feedback in regular augmented reality). This could be presenting information through when a user is in a particular location, navigation info, or could even augment environmental sounds such as increasing the number of bird sounds to indicate more messages are waiting.

the project will give you experience of audio interface design, augmented reality and usability evaluations (as we will need to test what we build to see if it works)."
