Harmony - dckiller51/astrion-custom-dashboard GitHub Wiki
Astrion talks to a Logitech Harmony Hub directly over your local network, without the Harmony cloud or Home Assistant. You can start Harmony activities, send any device command, and see live which activity is running.
Add a hub
On the remote's web page › Harmony › + Add hub:
| Field | |
|---|---|
| Name | e.g. Living room hub |
| IP address | the hub's local IP. Give it a fixed IP in your router. |
| Hub id | click Auto-detect ID: Astrion reads it from the hub |
You can add several hubs. Tiles, hotkeys and Activities say which hub to use. Without one, they use the first hub in the list.
Browse devices and commands, add aliases
Click a hub's name to see its devices, then a device to see its commands. Each command can get an alias: a clearer name shown everywhere you pick a command in the builder. Handy when Harmony's own name is cryptic, or when a device has no OK command, only Select. What's sent to the hub doesn't change.
What you can do with Harmony
| Where | What |
|---|---|
| Scene grid tile | Start a Harmony activity (-1 = power off), or send a device command |
| Button grid button | Send a device command |
| Hotkey | Harmony IR command or Harmony activity (see Hotkeys) |
| Apple TV remote card | Control an Apple TV through its Harmony device (Control via › Harmony hub) |
| Composed Activity | Use Harmony devices next to IR, Home Assistant and Apple TV ones, with per-device power and input commands |
Live activity state
Astrion listens to the hub. When a Harmony activity starts or stops from anywhere (Astrion, the Harmony remote, the app, Home Assistant), Astrion knows:
- the tile of the running activity is outlined;
- Active Activities shows it;
- Off buttons and hotkeys send the hub's power-off (
-1). This only affects that hub, not other rooms.
For this, mark the activity tile Track as Activity with a room (see Activities).
Fixed in 1.2.8: with a single hub and tiles that don't name it, the outline didn't clear after power off.
Harmony device profiles (in composed Activities)
When a composed Activity uses a Harmony device, Astrion reads that device's Harmony profile:
- power: separate on/off commands, a single toggle, or none;
- the delay after power-on;
- how many times each key is sent;
- named inputs with their full key sequence.
You can pick an input by name and Astrion sends the whole sequence, only when the input actually changes.
For a toggle-only device, Astrion remembers whether it's on, so it doesn't switch it off by mistake. If it gets out of sync, use Help in Active Activities.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Check |
|---|---|
| Auto-detect ID fails | The IP is right, the hub is powered and on the same network as the remote. |
| Commands work from the app, not from Astrion | The hub id: auto-detect it again. Then reload the dashboard (Settings › About). |
| Tile outline doesn't follow the hub | The tile must be Track as Activity with a room, and use the hub's activity id. Update to 1.2.8 for single-hub setups. |
