Go to Visual Studio Dev Essentials, and login using the newly created user account from the sharepoint site creation. Click on 'Bestätigen' (Accept).
Click on the user account in the upper right corner. On https://app.vsaex.visualstudio.com/me?mkt=de-de&workflowID=devprogram, see the landing page information.
Click on 'Use your benefits'. Here you can choose which benefit you need to activate. Be aware, as a developer you cannot have multiple subscriptions of the same program.
Click on tab Subscriptions. Here you can e.g. add an active retail subscription, or add an email address which you used to purchase subscriptions.
If you have a retail key of e.g. Microsoft Visual Studio 2019, download the bits: https://aka.ms/vs/16/release/vs_professional.exe
You still need a subscription e.g. to use benefits.
Microsoft 365 Developer Program subscription
As an option, activate the Microsoft 365 Developer Program subscription.
"The Microsoft 365 Developer Program includes a Microsoft 365 E5 developer subscription that you can use to create your own sandbox and develop solutions."
Be aware, see https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/office/developer-program/microsoft-365-developer-program-faq?source=docs#why-can-t-i-sign-in-to-my-developer-program-dashboard-. If you sign in with a phone number or *.onmicrosoft.com account, you'll get an error and will need to sign in with a different account.
After having finished the setup, login to the dashboard.
