Goal

Install Windows 2012 in VirtualBox.

Outline:

Prerequisites

• Windows 2012 ISO (see Win2012ISO)
• host OS with VirtualBox installed

VirtualBox VM Setup

1. Create new virtual machine in VirtualBox UI with the following settings:

2. In VM settings choose Storage and select 9600.17050.WINBLUE_REFRESH.140317-1640_X64FRE_SERVER_EVAL_EN-US-IR3_SSS_X64FREE_EN-US_DV9.ISO for the CD/DVD drive:

3. In VM settings choose Shared Foldes and select a directory in host OS choosing Auto-Mount option. This directory will eventually become available in guest Win2012 as a network directory:

Windows Installation

1. Start virtual machine, select English language options in the form that will appear, and click Install Now:

2. Choose Standard Evaluation (Server with a GUI):

3. Choose Custom: Install Windows only (advanced):

4. Choose Disk (0), click Next and wait for install process to finish:

Windows Initial Settings

1. Create a password for Administrator user:

2. Choose Machine -> Insert Ctrl+Alt+Del in VirtualBox menu:

3. Enter the Administrator password you just created, windows session will be loaded after that:
