FAQ - danenders/pkedx GitHub Wiki

Has the difficulty been increased?
No. This is intended to be a vanilla / casual experience for plaything through Hoenn. Difficulty remains the same as the base game, but may potentially even be easier due to the direct control over your stats you've been given. However, the Battle Frontier remains fully intact, so once you breeze through the story, you can challenge yourself there.

Will you be adding megas/z-moves/etc?
No. These don't fit the mission of maintaining a fairly vanilla game, and there are many other hacks that implement these features better than mine. I know I could start with the RHH Expansions from the start, but for this project I wanted to practice adding things myself to learn my way around various systems.

Will you be adding more Pokemon?
No. Since I've retained the original maps, but have made all Pokemon obtainable, I didn't want the game to feel crowded. Routes still retain variety, but I wanted things to feel natural without having every route feature completely unique setups. Plus, with the exception of the few cross-gen evolutions I've added just to round out the dex (and practice how to add new evolutions/mons), I wanted to maintain the original Gen 3 lineup.

Will you be adding more playthrough options?
No. If a difficulty hack or in-game nuzlocke support is what you're looking for, this will not be it.

Can you provide a patch?
Patches are now being provided in the releases. Building the rom yourself is still the recommended procedure, however.

Where can I find x item?
For the majority of items, you can reference original Emerald guides for locations. Very few item placements & locations have been moved or removed. If it has been, it will be noted in this documentation.

Where can I find x Pokemon?
Please refer to the documentation.

Will you be making further updates?
At this point, I will only be addressing major bugs. For all intents and purposes, this hack is completed.
