Detailed information on user emails - d-fine/Dataland GitHub Wiki

The "notify immediately" flag of data requests

When users create new data requests on Dataland, they can choose whether they wish to be informed immediately when something of relevance to that request happens, and this choice can be toggled by the user at request-level anytime. If a request is marked as "do not notify immediately", the user still receives all relevant information that was not sent immediately in a personal weekly summary e-mail, sent out each Sunday after midnight (the sending of the e-mail is skipped for a user in case there is nothing to report).

After an open data request with "notify immediately" turned on is answered through QA-approved data and the corresponding immediate notification e-mail has been sent, the request is switched to "do not notify immediately". Users who still wish to be informed immediately on any further updates should reactivate immediate notifications for the answered request manually, in which case further data updates will not deactivate them for this request anymore.

Immediate notifications

The different kinds of immediate e-mail notifications sent out by Dataland to its users are as follows. In all cases, the relevant data request must be set to "notify immediately", otherwise the information will appear in the weekly summary e-mail instead.

  • "Data Available": Sent whenever relevant QA-approved data is available on Dataland for the very first time.
  • "Data Updated": Sent whenever there is an update to previously QA-approved data on Dataland in the form of the QA-approval of a new dataset for the same company, framework and reporting period.
  • "Data Non-Sourceable": Sent whenever an open request by the user is marked as non-sourceable because the requested data is not (yet) available.

Sample images of the different kinds of e-mails can be found at the end of this page.

Summary e-mail

The weekly summary e-mail is sent to each user for whom at least one immediate notification e-mail was not sent during the week because the relevant request was marked as "do not notify immediately". It consists of three sections, each corresponding to one of the types of immediate notification e-mails listed above. See the next section for a sample image of a summary e-mail.
