You can sort games across chapters. To sort games in a specific chapter, open any view in that chapter. Sort games in all chapters can be done from any place in the workbook.
In our example, Chapter 1 contains 10 games (blue below) and Chapter 2 contains 5 games (purple below). We will sort all games in Chapter 1 by ECO codes (yellow below). Make sure Chapter 1 is active, the black arrow will indicate it (green below). Then run the Sort Games function from the Chapter menu (red below):
In the Sort Games dialog, populate the required options:
Sort By
Determines the criteria used to sort the games (light green above). In our case we select ECO (dark green above). Note that the Round option can be used either as a simple number or as a decimal to represent multiple details. For example:
- Round 1, 2, … 6 – to indicate a specific round in a tournament with several rounds
- Round 3.7 – to indicate a specific round and the board on which the game in that round was played (Round 3, Board 7)
- Round 5.2 – to indicate a specific chapter and the game within that chapter (Chapter 5, Game 2)
Direction
Determines whether the sorting is in ascending or descending order (light blue above). In our case we select Ascending (dark blue above).
Apply to All Chapters
By default, games are sorted in the current chapter but selecting this option will sort games in all chapters (purple above)
Once you confirm by pressing the OK button (red above), the system sorts all games in Chapter 1 by ECO codes (red below):
