Importing Study Tree - czbar/ChessForge GitHub Wiki

You can create a Study tree by importing external PGN file into a New Chapter in Chess Forge. To do this, go to the Chapters list (green below) and use the right-click context menu to select Import Chapter (red below):

 

In the dialog box, select the PGN file you want to import (green below) and open it (red below):

 

Depending on what type of PGN file is selected, the system opens one of the following dialogs:

Chapters dialog

Opens if the selected file is a Chess Forge Workbook. All chapters in the file are listed, and you can select the ones to import into your workbook using the checkboxes on the left side of the window (red below). In our example, we select the chapter King's Gambit Declined (green below):

 

New chapter was imported (green below) with the study (blue below) and 5 games (purple below):

 

Click on the Study tree (blue above) to open the Study view (blue below):

Import from PGN dialog

Opens if the selected file is not a Chess Forge Workbook. All Games and Exercises found in the file are listed and you can select those you want to import into your workbook using tick boxes on the left hand side of the window (red below):

 

New Chapter was created (green below) from all selected games (blue below):

 

If needed, you can automatically generate the Study tree from the imported games. For more details see Regenerating Study from Games section.
