The manuals for the game can be found on the FirstInspires.org website. To reach the materials, click Programs, then hover over either FIRST Tech Challenge or FIRST Robotics Compeition, then Game & Season. On the next page, click "Game Materials."

Each year the rules manual is updated and updates to the rules can be found on the FirstInspires.org website where the manuals are offered.

Each manual containes rules that follow a simple letter-number (dot number, dot number...) format. The letter indicates which category the rule falls into. When people discuss rules, they alwayse reference the rull number.

For FTC

If you have questions about any rule and would like an official answer, you should post the question to the official FTC Q&A (ftc-qa.firstinspires.org) forum.

There are two different versions of the rules for FTC. Each version comes in two parts, for a total of four PDF files. One version is for 'Remote Events' spawned by Covid in which teams play a solo version of the game viewed remotely by judges. The other two PDFs are 'Traditional Events' where teams compete in person. (There is also a hybrid version.)

Part 1 of each version contains more general information about FTC games that doesn't change much between seasons.

Part 2 of each version covers the secifics of the current year's game.

For FRC

If you have questions about any rule and would like an official answer, you should post the question to the official FRC Q&A (frc-qa.firstinspires.org) forum.

There is one manual for FRC. (During Covid there was an At Home Challenges manual, also.)
