Problems in the installation

General

Installing AutoSignature fails the installation of SSL trusted certificates

Self-signature requires administrator permissions to be installed and to insert the SSL trust certificate for the operation of the signature in the online procedures. If the certificate installation process fails, go to the Autofirma installation repair section (Menu “Tools” -> “Restore Installation”) and run the reinstallation process. In the event that the certificate installation fails in Firefox only, consider enabling Firefox's trust in the system store. You can do this during the installation or during the installation restore process on Windows and macOS systems. If you cannot install Autofirma or the Trusted Certificate and you are not the system administrator, ask your system administrator to install the application.

Autofirma doesn't work with Firefox just installed or with my new profile

During Autofirma installation, a certificate is generated for communication between web browsers and the application and installed in the system and Firefox trusted stores. If a Firefox user profile is created or Firefox itself is installed after the Autofirma installation, Firefox will not have the certificate among those it believes to be trustworthy. To resolve this issue, you can use the AutoSignature Installation Restore feature.

Windows

The installer indicates that the Autofirma version is already installed or that there is a higher version

When AutoSignature is uninstalled, some error may occur that leaves resident registry entries in the system that lead to the belief that AutoSignature is still installed in the system. In these cases, it is possible that Automarca no longer appears in the list of installed programs, but that when you try to reinstall Automarca you will be informed that a higher version or the same version of the application is already installed. First, the computer should be restarted to ensure that no resources from the previous installation are in use. If after the reboot, neither the version that was installed of AutoSignature appears nor the new version can be installed from the EXE installer, try using the AutoSignature MSI installer. This will force the installation of the new version.

Typing error during installation

During the installation, you may be presented with an error such as the following:

If you already had Autofirma installed, check that it is not running, in which case the installer will not be able to overwrite the installation files. Close Autofirma and press the retry button. If Autofirma is not running, the file in question may be blocked by a previous execution or installation attempt. Restart your computer and try installing the application again.

The installation is blocked

The Autofirma installation on Windows might get blocked by displaying a screen like this:

This happens when the installer has detected a previous Autofirma version and is trying to uninstall before installing the new version. If Autofirma is currently running, the uninstall process will be blocked at this point. Be sure to close Autofirma if you have your desktop interface open or refresh those web pages from which a signing operation has been executed to force the application to close. If after doing so, the installation process does not continue, restart the computer and try again.

Linux

Installing the RPM package with the system package manager displays the message “Internal error

The signature PGP key may not have been imported into the trusted store. Follow the instructions in section 4.2.2.1 Importing the installer's PGP public key for importing the PGP key.

Installing the RPM package from console displays the “NOKEY” error

The message “NOKEY” is displayed when it is detected that the installer is signed but the key has not been imported into the system. Depending on the system, the installer may or may not continue with the installation process after displaying the message. If the installer does not complete the installation, try importing the signature key into your system and repeating the installation process. You can check how to import the PGP key in section 4.2.2.1 Import of the installer's PGP public key.
