The Idea

This project, tentatively called 'Trebleed,' is to create a music-themed video game in the roguelike deckbuilder genre. The game would be made using the Unity game engine and feature mechanics that draw from the card game Speed. The 'cards' in this game correspond to the notes in an octave, and can be played consecutively to create a song.

The gameplay was originally conceived to be a test of reflexes much like Speed, although it could be pivoted to be turn-based depending on the difficulty of implementation. The song created by playing 'cards' in a sequence helps the player complete their objective, whether it be winning a battle or capturing the hearts of those in the audience (the setting is still undecided). As for the roguelike deckbuilder elements, the game's progression will involve procedural generation, the player can become 'stronger' by upgrading their 'cards,' and the player must start over if they satisfy a 'lose' condition.
