How To Create Torrent Files - creeddiscord/proxmox GitHub Wiki
The guide below is relevant for qBittorrent. The ability to create torrents does not exist on the headless version of qBittorrent (qBittorrent-nox).
-
Open qBittorent.
-
Click on Tools in the top menu bar.
-
Click on Torrent Creator.
-
Locate the files that you want to torrent.
-
If you intend to upload to a private tracker, you must tick "Private torrent".
-
Insert your Tracker URLs. (Please follow your trackers guide to see which URL(s) you should be adding).
-
If you plan to use the same files and create multiple torrent files for different trackers, add a note in the Source field. This will generate a different hash code for the torrent file and allow you to add multiple torrents of the same name with the same files but for a different tracker.
-
Click Create Torrent. Depending on how many files you have, this may take a while.
-
Once the file is created, go to the upload section of your tracker and fill in the form.
-
When the torrent file is uploaded to the tracker, delete your copy of the torrent file.
-
Download the torrent file that you've just uploaded to the tracker (The reason for this is because the tracker will add a passkey to the torrent which will track upload progress against your account).
-
Head back to qBittorrent and click on "Add Torrent File" (The + icon). You can now do this in your headless qBittorrent if you wish.
-
Select the torrent file.
-
In the "Save at" field, select the directory where the files are located.
-
Click OK.
qBittorrent should then start checking for files and the progress bar should continue to 100%. If not it's because qBittorrent can't see the files: Right click on the torrent and click Set location to correct the file directory.
If any of the files are adjusted, the torrent file will break so ensure that you are not editing any of the files.
Nice to know: For visual aid, if you have multiple torrents with the same name, right click on the torrent and click Rename.
